Transformation
Working together with Gensler, we created a design and animation language that would allow users to explore use cases for a transparent screen wall called a T Block.
Transparent screens will be ubiquitous one day, transforming the glass all around us into opportunities for information, beauty and utility. We are really only limited by our ability to imagine the uses for this technology. So it was incredibly exciting for our team to visualize some of these uses of transparent OLED screens.
The Gensler team had designed a physical setup of 8 networked LG OLED_T screens in an 8x8’ wall of glass for content and a rear projection screen behind it to create environments for the screens to augment.
Our team was inspired by the material of the OLED_Ts and how we are transforming our world with glass. We then created an aesthetic metaphor of glass animations that would transform to create environments of all kinds. Each scene is introduced in glass, on glass.
Working closely with the Gensler team, we turned their sketches and moodboards into fully realized digital scenes so that attendees could picture walls of OLED_Ts being used in elevators, homes, self-driving cars, airports and even space stations.
Central to the experience is a transparent touchscreen that navigates these case studies. We used the curved surface of the touchscreen to create a dimensional navigation that extends around you, coming into view as you swipe. Press on any of the floating thumbnails to dive into exciting new uses for transparent screens.
Transformation was installed in the LG Transparent Future Exhibition at the Sejong Museum of Art in Seoul, South Korea.
