Signature Swing

Even among professional golfers, there is no standard golf swing. In fact, there is an incredible amount of variety between swings. What makes your swing different is unique to you. This is an installation that explores the hidden aesthetics of your golf style.

In researching golf, we found that each golfer has their own angled plane and their club wavers along this plane. This wavering is unique, like a personal signature. Measuring golfers swing planes allowed us to highlight their differences and create special art that is as unique as a real signature.

Using Axivity sensors we measure the angle and velocity at all the stages of your golf swing. We then attach aesthetic attributes to each data point. 3d brush shape, scale, particles, color, texture and orientation all reacting to the data of the swing.

Everyone brings home a digital copy of their artwork, but if you’re lucky you might receive a limited edition print of your final artwork.

The Signature Swing was installed for Deloitte Digital at the 2016 US Open Golf at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, PA.
